Enhance communication between home and school with our Daily Communication File Folder, specially designed for special education. This digital PDF tool encourages students to share their daily activities with staff and parents using familiar Boardmaker Picture Communication Symbols (PCS).
Product Features: These daily communication folders are a great tool to encourage communication in the home and at school. Students can communicate to staff and parents what they ate, played, and activities they participated in (and more). The color coding allows for choice icons to be identified by statement to encourage independence.
Students can complete the school folder with staff and then communicate with parents about their school day when they get home. Then, parents can complete the home folder so students can communicate with staff and/or peers at school about what they did in the evening, or on the weekend.
Minimizing the field of pictures can be done as well. Staff or parents can predetermine the choice(s) that the student is likely to make for each statement. Then, they can put only one or two choice icons for each statement on the icon choice page. This allows for increasing or decreasing the field size as needed.
Parents and staff should be encouraged to go through each statement (one by one) with the child. Adults can read the statement aloud, while pointing to each word, and then have the student pick a picture that represents their choice.
Staff and parents should be encouraged to have the students verbally label, sign, or use their communication device if they have one, to read along and/or to label their choice icon (picture) that completes the statement.
Staff and parents can also add extra comments with a dry erase marker on the laminated folder.
